Congress leader Rahul Gandhiwould be able to give leadership if he became prime ministeras the younger generation could do so, External Affairsminister Pranab Mukherjee said on Saturday.
"When Indira Gandhi became prime minister, she was not50. Even Rajiv Gandhi took over as prime minister before heturned 40. If Rahul Gandhi becomes the prime minister, he willcertainly give able leadership to the country and there is nodoubt in it," Mukherjee said during an interview with aBengali news channel here.

Manifesto of BJP

BJP said that all BPL families will get 35 kg of rice or wheat every month at Rs 2 per kg. This, they said, will be available against Food Coupons redeemable both at PDS and private outlets. The manifesto was released by prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani flanked by party president Rajnath Singh and senior leaders Jaswant Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley. Chairman of manifesto committee Murali Manohar Joshi was also there.
On Ram Temple the manifesto says, "The BJP will explore all possibilities, including negotiations and judicial proceedings, to facilitate the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya."
